Yes, you can apply decans to the other planets as well. However, whats more important is the aspect (note the orbs) that these planets make with another. Those will indicate how the energies of the planets manifest themselves in your personality.
The 1st decan generally has 2 co-rulers, one from the sign itself and the other from the preceding sign. Thus, it takes on influences from both signs.
The 2nd decan supposedly has the strongest traits of the sign itself. Being in the middle position indicates that it is the sole ruler of the sign and thus, its energies magnify.
The 3rd decan, like the first, takes on traits of the sign and the following sign's. Its co-ruler is found in the next sign and thus, it will show traits of both signs.
