What's so bad about mars in libra?!

Question: I have it and honestly, I don't see what the huge problem is. Maybe it takes me a little longer to jump into action, but I won't be made to feel like I'm somehow less than someone with mars in Aries or Scorpio, or whatever! I feel that if anything, the stars IMPEL us, not COMPEL us, and just because I have mars in libra doesn't mean I have to be indecisive, or lazy, or slow to move! And it doesn't mean I won't stand up for myself, either!

Mars in libra doesn't like to start conflicts, but we LOVE to finish them.

I don't have anything that's in "ruler" or "exhalted," and most of the sites I've visited tell me it's such a horrible thing, it's in detriment, whatever...but it's part of me! What else can I do, ball up and cry about it? That just means I have to work a little harder to get things done, but it's not impossible!

What do you think? What so-called "detriments" do you have in YOUR charts?

Jupiter in detriment and as unaspected planet. Believe me, I feel the effects. But more from it being an unaspected planet rather than it being in detriment.

As for mars in Libra, my brother has that placement as well (albeit in retrograde motion). He seems to have no problems with its placement; in fact he's a very active and very grounded person who does everything at its own time. He's also quite organised.

In general, placements are described as worse than they are. In fact, you have to imagine the meaning of mars taking on each sign's traits. In Aries, mars will be very active, impulsive and quickly worn out. Sounds not so good all of a sudden, does it? Despite the fact that Mars is Aries' ruler, you would be worse off having it in Aries. Same with Scorpio.

Mars is exalted in Capricorn and in all fairness, I do think Mars would be best there. Capricorn doesn't like waste, does a lot with little sources, doesn't spend time getting involved with less important matters. Having Mars in Capricorn basically means that you channel your energy to the most important thing, you don't waste any of your energy and you are generally calm and collected. But when you do lose your calm, since you direct your energy to the most urgent event/orbject, people with mars in Capricorn generally aren't the kind of people you would want to mess with. They know what they want and they won't stop to get it.

That would be Mars in Capricorn in an ideal chart. Sadly enough, even though I have that placement, my majority of planets in Sagittarius make me too playful, and their position in the 1st house make me too impulsive. But, like a typical mars in capricorn, I only show that mars in capricorn when the situation really calls for it and when there is no other option - a last resort, sort of... or is that mars in reluctant 2nd house?

Anyway, as for your mars in libra - don't worry. Forget about exaltations, detriments, falls etc... Libra carefully weighs every option before deciding, and that channels through your mars. So basically, you carefully weigh your options before you spend your energy on either one of them and that cannot be bad in any way imaginable. You just want to make sure your energy isn't lost. And you stay calm when everyone has lost their patience.

P.S.; Mars is at it's worst in Gemini. Fickle, indecisive and not being able to concentrate on any task.

Aries starts conflicts, Libra mediates and Capricorn ends the conflicts. It is generally seen that Libra represents the Jury and Capricorn the Judge - a sign of authority.

i friend of mine have mars in libra. though she's a leo, she likes to think things through before acting.

Let me explain this. Ex: Taurus and Libra, the signs femininity, are ruled by Venus. Aries is ruled by Mars, the planet of War and violence and Scorpio is co-ruled by Mars. A Libra with Mars means that women would be have a masculine anima and the Libra male would have a feminine anima. A Venus-Mars or Mars-Venus connection means keen observation and one that is multi-talented.

Mars in Libra is very argumentative and talkative. As we see. :-)

It's all silly-----------

There's nothing wrong having a mars in libra. I for one have it too. I do the very same thing you when conflicts happen. Sometimes you have to kick yourself and make things happen quicker instead of letting it go.

As for detriments, I have a venus in scorpio. Talk about extreme sexual power. It can be very dangerous.

What's your Sun Sign? There is nothing wrong with any sign or placement. It's your chart arrangement and meant to be a guide for soul progress and learning.

Mars in Libra cooperates and is often led to act as an arbitrator between people, parties, states and even nations who are engaged in prolonged conflicts.

Mars in Libra is wise to select a more assertive and energetic partner. You may need someone to push you along, as Mars can be somewhat lazy in Libra. You often need motivation. Though you are never pushy or very forceful, you do exert gentle and continuous efforts toward a solid relationship. Although you are very affectionate and romantic, your sex drive is somewhat low, and you expect more emotional satisfaction than physical passion.
