Does anyone have any ideas as to why astrologers seem to be such a competitive, !
Question: Why is that? I don't get it. What's with the "I know so much more than you and therefore you know nothing" attitude that some of them give off? Isn't knowledge supposed to be shared? And shouldn't we all be helping each other with that as much as we can?
Anyone have any thoughts or ideas on this?

Nice to see questions like that sometimes. Hopefully it will make people think. ...oh, and I can't help but feel personally linked to the question as well since sometimes I seem to get more thumbs down than thumbs up. Luckily I don't give thumbs down - unless very few, isolated cases call for a thumbs down, of course! I generally only give thumbs up to people whose answers make sense - whether I like them or not - or just give no thumbs at all to the others.
The reason why is because thumbs down are generally useless - unless you've acquired enough of them to alert Y!A management and they will send you a warning - nothing more. So thumbs down have more of a psychological value; "people don't like my answer, what did I do wrong?" but it does nothing to your points.
Thumbs up, on the other hand, *if* your answer is picked as best answer, they give you extra points. So that's something concrete to add to your account ^_~
So really, that makes me wonder why people still bother with thumbing down answers at all - but I suspect Yahoo only worked that one in to give people here the illusion that they do have a freedom of choice and expression, whether it be positive or negative.
As to your question; I have noticed that some of the astrologers here often conclude their answer with how many experience they have. Again, that only has psychological value and manipulation value. I assume they expect that people will swallow every word they say simply because of their amount of experience. That is usually shown in the length and the contents of their answers; either short and strong, as if it was screaming "believe me or else!" - or copy-pasted.
I personally have my amount of astrological experience in my profile and I like it that way. People are free to believe my answers or not; I like to think that we still have freedom of mind so I don't want to force anything up on anyone. I am set on sharing all the knowledge that I have and it is out there for anyone to take; it won't make you worse, but possibly better.
So; to conclude: in all of the years I've encountered on-line astrologers, I have noticed that many of them compete with *younger* ones, slapping their years of "experience" around as a weapon, rather than their actual knowledge. Such behaviour is one of the reasons why people don't take astrologers seriously anymore (Chainlightning always comes with the argument that astrologers never agree on anything, which is - sadly enough - very true, but not because astrology is wrong, but simply because astrologers take too much pride in themselves and see themselves as something they're not; all knowing deities) so I am fully behind the idea of letting that behaviour stop and let people listen to each other and learn from each other.
And thank you to everyone else who answered as well:)Amon-Ra, fayt, Jemmy, blind existence, and Dave. Good answers all of you, too:) Report It
