I'm a Scorpio married to a Cancer man and I can tell you they are some of the hardest men to read on the planet.
That being said, I think mainly they communicate their interest by what they say rather than what they do. You know that a Cancer man is interested based on what he does, and if his actions show that he is ardent, than that speaks volumes about this sign who is actually very afraid of rejection and hurt.
I think another thing to note about Cancer men is that typically once they are interested in someone, they have a very difficult time letting that person go, so if he is persistent or tenacious, this also shows that he is interested, and if he's not, I assume his interest would just dwindle and he would make no effort to call or be with you.
I agree with Rhonda, I am a Cancer woman who has dated two Cancer men they are hard to read because they are so scared of their feelings getting hurt, sometimes they even come across as a player type with one two many women when really they are just looking for that one. I guess the best way to tell is how much attention they pay to you, but you're probably going to have to make the first move.
