The sun signs per se are not supposed to be good or bad. Any chracteristic of a sun sign has potential for both good and ill.
Scorpios have potential for great spirituality gor example, but that can have both a light or a dark side.
The have emotional strengths, but it matters how we use our emotions.
My Fiance is a Scorpio and what I have noticed most about him is he tends to be Critical and very Stubborn. On the Good side He is Intelligent, Loves Sports, Loves Sex ( and he is dang good at it)..

But I think there is a sense of wonder in that just like gazing at the stars. As far as moody aren't we all in our own fashion. The lover part, Boy would I like to find that out. :) lol

No, it's not bad. And since I'm a Scorpio as well, we'd be good together. For me I'm also very moody. I think it's from my Irish and Indian background. Maybe that's why my temper is so bad with you know who right now and you know what.

I don't follow the zodiac. It says I'm a Virgo and that I'm suppose to be sort of a "type A" person. NOT TRUE!!!!! I'm like the exact opposite of my "sign". It's just one of those power of suggestion kinda things. Like if you check it first thing in the morning, naturally your subconscious will make you act that way.
Being a Scorpio is a good thing. But like any sign or any person you have the potential to be bad. Being a Scorpio myself I see the potential to be mean, rude, and basically all of the negative things you hear about Scorpios. I CHOOSE to not allow myself to become the negative Scorpio but instead rise up like the Phoenix. As far a jobs go Scorpios are good investigators and would also do well in a medical field.
