Actually, they are.
Because since you are both the same sign, it can also mean that you guys have a lot in common. Aries and Sagittarius are supposed to be a great match. They are both fire signs and can make a fiery relationship.
Aries and Sagittarius are both independent signs and like freedom. So, they can give eachother space and can still maintain their close relationship.
Aries and Aries, like I said, they are the same sign, so they can have lots in common and have lots to talk about. There would be no misunderstandings. :]
Sometimes it doesn't really work on just your sun sign. Your moon and rising sign also has something to do with relationships, and stuff. ;D

Since no one has control of the day they are born it makes astrology bigoted, akin to racism. There is no evidence that birth-date determines personality.
Astrology can and has been tested. It fails to do better than chance. Don't let a ancient, made-up, bigoted, and unproved concept be used against you. Believe in free thinking. Believe that you can take control of your own life.

I don't know how many times I am going to have to say this. There is so much more going on than Sun signs. And just because you are incompatible doesn't mean it won't work. All it means is the relationship may require more understanding and effort and to two people in love (or good friends) they tend to do that on their own.
Obviously the guy famous from Monty Python or whatever has no clue about astrology because he doesn't understand that horoscope columns in a newspaper are not the same thing as a birth chart. He also has no clue because astrology doesn't say all people are divided up into just twelve categories.
It actually shows that unless you are born on the same day, at exactly the same time, and in the same city as another person, you will be totally different, even if you have the same Sun sign!
Check out you and your girlfriends birth charts and I bet you will find that your Venus signs or Moon signs are compatible.
