For the Life lessons you need to learn in this lifetime, look to your North Node (Nodes of the Moon) placement for guidance. The House position of the North Node will show you the areas in life in which these lessons will manifest themselves. This will give you a good idea of the traits you need to reinforce in your personality this lifetime because you are lacking in them.
Alternatively, your past life conditioning and the traits that come naturally (or sometimes too easily) to you can be traced back to the South Node placement. This indicates the type of life you were accustomed to living in your past lives, making you complacent in these areas highlighted.
Some astrologers also believe that from a karmic point of view, the Moon placement indicates the kind of life you were leading in the past (Incidentally, my Moon and South Node placements are in the same sign, meaning that this I have double the need to learn these pressing issues this lifetime).
