no

No, because I am an Astronomer.

Oh, and my brain has not been replaced with a Cauliflower!

I don't really believe in them, they're just for fun. However, there are times when I read my horoscope at the end of the day and the are pretty much identical to what happened to me. It's kinda weird.

No I don't believe in horoscopes. Anyway, I'm a Scorpio and we are calculating cynics.

No.

i do - because everytime i ever asked someone like that to describe me they always did it like...REALLY well. some people thought i agree are like not at all what their sign is cuz i guess some people are above their astroloigcal influence. hard to explain but personally if you don't believe in it then fine whatever no one's making you or saying you should but don't hate or dislike people who do believe. their not stupid which im guessing you think. everyone has their own beliefs and no one can change them so just accept it.

no but i still read them when i see a copy of one =)

I'M not into that stupid astrology anymore.

If you are talking about the nonsense printed in magazines... then no.

If you are talking about a properly drawn up natal chart that highlights areas of a person's personality and the areas in life in which they will excel, then most definitely yes.

Astrology is an ancient science; and is the precursor of modern astronomy. Just as weather can influence someone's mood, so does the cosmos affect how we react to day-to-day events -- some days our thought processes can be hyperactive, and other days everything seems to fall into a heap.

Astrology is a mathematical formula for anticipating the influences that will be brought to bear on an individual at any given juncture in time. Horoscopes are an extremely broad overview, trying to reduce the entire population of this planet into twelve little pigeon holes.

I don't believe in the horoscopes that tell you how your day is supposed to be because those same predictions are for thousands of other people. I believe some of the things in the presonality profile. I'm not going to read it and automatically decide that it's true. I'll read it and ask myself if it's true.

I believe in horoscopes because it's something that you want to happen but never does, you hope on it because if it says something good like your going to find love then you want that to happen don't you? You re-lie on it to make you happy although it never comes true but we just hope it does...Although sometimes they don't come true, you want to believe they do so we may not nessarily believe in it but we want too.

If you are talking about that generalised crap in the papers or magazines then the answer is obviously no but natal charts, sure they can really help you get inside your own head, help you come to terms with who you are, help to guide you down a chosen path, help you look out for certain obstacles and elude them. Help you get to a place where you want to be.. They are never gonna help you win the lottery but hey you can't have everything. right!!!!!

I think horoscopes are often correct, but anyone with a basic knowledge of cold reading (or common sense) can see how unmystical or significant that is...

Yes, it is very insightful. People who don't understand the purpose of it are bound to be disappointed. It's not a form of predicting the future but it identifies certain influences in your life and some of your personality traits. I mean it's not going to tell me if I'll hit the lottery.

Yes! Because it works. It is more reliable and accurate than economic forecasts, better than most doctors, most weather forecasters, produces the goods more consistently than most gardeners and farmers.... etc.

Astrology was in fact the purpose of astronomy... no one watched the stars for the sake of it. Sadly along the way astronomers who wanted everything 'proved' decided to split from astrologers. Mainly because they could not keep up with comprehension of the intangible.

Remember, astrology does not control the future, it is merely an indicator of the celestial climate, thereby providing guidance for the astute. Much the same way that a clock informs us of time, it does of course not create time as we know it.

i would be interested to hear how many of those who deny or condemn astrology have actually studied the principles, and are more aquainted than the 'Mystic Meg' level

I believe in them sometimes. For mine atleast (libra) the personality, most of it matchs me to the letter. Often I find the horoscope is true(I read them at the end of the day).

No matter what any of the believers say, astrology is not a science, nor is there any objective scientifically testable proof for its veracity.
If you disagree, then think about this if you won't accept that no reputable peer reviewed scientific journal has ever published an article demonstrating that astrology is real..... We all know how money drive many industries, but few more certainly that the insurance business. If astrology gave us any indications whatever of anything that would influence future events, predispositions, or choices, don't you think that the actuaries would have caught onto this ages ago?
So when us Capricorns decide to fly to Seattle on wednesday our travel premiums ought to reflect the stars and celestial climate. They do not. If you believe in astrology, fine, but don't confuse your faith in something unproven with real objective testable science. Chalk and cheese.

Natal charts and birth characteristics, yes.
Daily horoscopes to my cell phone, no.

Regardless of whether it's considered by modern "experts" to be a science or a hoax, astrology was practiced for centuries before astronomy was even formalized. I am not so arrogant as to throw hundreds of years of wisdom to the wind on the whims of modern man. I have instances in my own life that prove the precepts of astrology--Show me sound proof that the concepts of astrology are NOT true and I will consider your argument.

Kinda. But they could just be a coincidence. It makes me feel better knowing i have some idea of what's going to happen if you know what i mean. Also i think they're fun and exciting.

If mine comes true i'm in the money next week!

wooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe Adolf Hitler ever opened the paper to find Russell von Grant predicting (adopts camp voice) "Zis day you vill exterminate ze Jews". Or that George W Bush did the same and read (assuming he CAN read) "Today y'all will be elected president". Instead, people read vague generalisations that they then twist round to fit the facts, thus turning it into a self fulfilling prophecy.
I used to hear lots of people saying, "Oooooooh, my horoscope said that would happen, so it must be true," but they never said anything about doubting it the other 364 days of the year!
