which is 530am (my mom says shes not sure)

Wassup tril. Okay, listen. Now that you know your birth time, go to "alabe.com". Then input all the information it asks, and you will have your whole chart. They are very accurate. Take it from me darling! And it's free too.
You don't need the exact birth time for your horoscope just the month and the day so you know what zodiac you fall under.

Without knowing where you were born, it's impossible to say what your ascendant (rising sign) is.
And yes, the time is important; although it doesn't need to be precise. Providing you know roughly when you were born, it is then possible to gauge what your natal chart looks like.
The reason why you want your birth time to be exact is because the moon changes position every 4 minutes. There are also other minor changes that occur.
One test you can do is to enter the time you think you were born, then do another one with the time different by ten minutes up and another one down and see what is different.
See if you were born at 5:46 am and your Moon is right in the very beginning of, lets say, Scorpio...
and you put 5:30 and instead it puts you as Moon in the sign before it. The aspects would be off as well. Sometimes it matters more than other times.
My best advice is to make your mom look at your birth certificate!! LOL It took me 6 months to find mine (luckily my mom knew it was either 10:26 or 10:28 pm so I could still check my chart out), so depending on your patience, that might be an issue.
And another thing, we asked my boyfriend's mom when he was born and she tells us, around 6:30 AM. So we tell her to call us back when she finds out for sure...it was 12:12 PM. Sometimes moms are not the most accurate source of information!! HAHAHA.
