Try to use the scientific method for validating astrology.
1. Observe some aspect of the universe.
2. Invent a tentative description, called a hypothesis, that is consistent with what you have observed.
3. Use the hypothesis to make predictions.
4. Test those predictions by experiments or further observations and modify the hypothesis in the light of your results.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until there are no discrepancies between theory and experiment and/or observation.
One of the keys is that the tests are repeatable by others. Also that the theory must be ``falsifiable''.
Scientific testing has shown that astrology fails to do better than chance. That is the plain simple answer.
Edit: The main reason that astrology has been here for so long is simple. People make money on it. Hundreds of millions of dollars are spent on readings, books, and assorted trinkets like t-shirts jewlery. If astrology was not a money maker, it would have no real use.
This is definitely a subject that has a lot of believers as well as skeptics....I think you would need to study the subject to make that determination.

No, there is absolutely no scientific validity to astrology and regardless of how much you study it, you will not find any scientific validity, the people who believe in astrology do so because of the our human nature to remember hits and forget misses.
To some degree, yes. It is a fact that the position of the moon causes physical changes to the earth such as the tides. There are also studies that suggest increased activities and behaviors during the full moon. Police departments plan for this and add officers to shifts during full moons. The stars are physical entities and our earth has dynamic and physically moving relationship with these celestial bodies. Having said that, my experience is that star charts for each individual are so detailed and complex, they really don't have that much practical application in our day-to-day lives. A person must at least chart and understand the moon sign and rising sign in addition to their sun sign. I do also think there is something to compatibility provided detailed charts are used and not just sun signs.
A chart is calculated scientifically but the analysis rests on the astrologer' knowledge, capabilities and experience as well as self-knowledge.
Somebody above mentioned the affect of the moon. May I in add that an experiment with oysters ( in completely closed off,in controlled and sealed environment) still opened and closed according to the tides.
There is very little doubt now that we are all part of a "greater picture" if you like and we are all made out of energy which affects other people's energy and so forth.....
What does make an itom work in your body ? electrical energy..am not sure but that is what scientific people have come up with and still cannot explain...where does it come from ?? no idea..life.......
Astrology has always existed everywhere in all parts of the world......way before Christianity and still survives.
My guess is why now ? because it gives answers which no other religion/philosophy really can. Am talking about serious astrology here.
There are many things and matters in this world those days which are still a mystery.
Because some people just cannot give any explanation does it make them less valid ?? or push them away because there are no valid explanations ? like mathematical answers..
Some subjects are too complexed I ' m afraid for some who wish to see the world in black/white.
Has anybody ever given any proof as to how the pyramids were built ? or the giant designs in Mexico ? or the mystery of Easter Island ? and so many other great mysteries which are leaving scientists dumbfounded to this day..
The best way is to get interested, read as much as possible, test it....and then decide for yourself.
Many people like good old ginslig or whatever (sorry forgot real name; he answered your Q btw too) is always hovering over this section.and dismissing it..........wonder why really..maybe a deep desire to believe who knows..
The best example I could give you is psychology.......It is constantly changing, new ideas come up all the time, data vary significantly, etc.........but then people accept it without a blink.
