Color Fluctuations?!

Question: As l gazed outside the other night, from my window, I noticed a dark green variation in the skyline. What is your opinion as to what this may be? The weather was tumultous as the time of this occurrence.

Good Morning,

Researchers believe green light in the sky at night comes from oxygen atoms in the ionosphere. "When these ions recombine with electrons at night, they create unstable molecules which split into energetic atoms. These can emit energy as a green glow." (Please read link)

Where do you live? It was probably northern lights, or also called aurora borealis.

No two people see colors exactly alike. Treasure your uniqueness!

I am not a meteorologist but I am certain that the coloring you described was due to the setting sun and the energy from the earth being reflected back which caused the hues that you observed.

I see green in the skyline around 5pm (goes towards 6pm as we move away from the solstice). Then the weather is not tumultuous....... just angry and tired people going back from their business.
