The reason why they say it can be bad is because leo is a fire sign and scorpio a water... water signs are very emotional, hard to make up their minds, dreamy moody, etc... while fire signs are more agressive, dominating, strong. Typically one can put the other out, in the long run.
However, it definately depends on your individual date of birth and such to be specific.
I tend to believe that water and fire signs compliment eachother, while both can be needy at times they both can also understand what the other needs.
Both are empathetic, loving, creative types of personalities.
I think it's more up to the individual. Most horoscopes are very generalized and many times they won't apply to you until you have a specified reading with your date of birth and such...
Go for it - don't stress on the signs too much!
