Actually they have similarities like Virgos do have double personalities, Virgos mix dreams and realities just like Geminis do, Virgo really appreciates Geminis energy and charm and finds a person to share his thoughts and Ideas as Gemini will love that too.
Gemini sees a safe home to rest in Virgo..and someone who will talk and listen same amount :D
I am a Virgo and I have never been attracted to Geminis. I have had past "friendships" with Geminis, but with each case, they were either manipulative to me and saw me as an easy target to take advantage of, or two-faced and always talking behind my back. I am glad to have the strain of those relationships out of my life.

They are quick thinkers and communicators, but the attraction rarely lasts. You might take Hugh Grant and Liz Hurley as an example - Virgo/Gemini. Other signs suit them both better for long-term relationships.
