I think you probably crave attention in some way. Maybe you don't need to be in the spotlight, per se, but you most likely want recognition from people for whatever it is that you do that you're proud of, even if it's only from people in your immediate circle.
My mother is a leo as well (both of my parents are actually, but my mom's the one who fits this situation better), and she tends to shun being the center of attention in the way that I think you're referring to. BUT she does definitely want to be recognized and appreciated for the things that she has done for people, and also the things that she has accomplished in her life by the people who are important to her. She doesn't need the approval and attention of the world at large, but she most certainly craves it from those whose opinions matter to her. Be that as it may, she has still attracted attention at points of her life whether she wanted it or not, because that's what Leos do.
Maybe you're kind of like her...
I would say, though, that there's probably an emphasis of some element other than fire in your chart which makes you more on the quiet side. Maybe water or earth.
It's possible too that you're just really young and haven't grown into enjoying the spotlight yet.
We don't express all of the qualities of our sun signs all at once, sometimes we grow into different aspects of them. People aren't that one-dimensional, and there are a lot of other influences present in your chart. You are more than just your sun sign.

That stuff is not real. Don't put any hope in it.
Perhaps that's they way you want to be seen but others would see you as the complete opposite of that.
There are two answers.
1) You were born at night. That usually reverses some aspects of a certain sign.
OR
2) Astrology is not true.

Maybe it has something to do with your parents astrology and the way you were brought up?
Both my parents are Sagittarius and my sister and I are Pisces. This is a bad combination for Pisces who often loose touch with reality, and Sagittarius is always happy to please the dreamy Pisces. As a result, the reality of the world is more frightening to us.
supposedly, if you were born right in the middle of the sign's duration, you will have strong leo features, however if your date of birth falls close to the beginning or end, i think within a few days of the previous sign or the next sign, then you can carry traits of that sign as well. personally, i would take horoscopes and astrology as entertaining, but not factual and nothing to rely on.
This is a rare case, but its totally possible. Embrace it, and be fabulous! :)

I'll tell you why just tell us your birthday and year. astrology is not ALL about your sun sign, theres so much more.
Nobody said all Leo's were like that. What is said about Leo's when you read about them are just in general. It doesn't define all of them. Their are quiet leo's and the more outgoing leo's. But, both have their pride and trust me even though your the quieter leo type you will be able to roar when your disrespected, etc..... You also have to consider what other signs are in your natal chart. It's not just your sun sign that defines your personality. You have your moon sign, rising sign, etc................ So that's probably why your a bit different from the average leo.
it could be your rising sign. Find out what it is and read up on it. Sometimes ur rising sign takes control over ur life depending on ur circumstances.
Or like if u were raised a certain way or have dealt with bullies and stuff this is just circumstance but if you are a true Leo and not acting from ur rising sign then u will emerge in the future once u become fully aware of ur awesomeness.
