aries friends are very fun to be around. they're energetic, constantly on the move, and absolutely detest boredom, so you can always expect fun things will happen (you might move a lot... and that's not my forte, but that's all cool). however, they are sore sore SORE losers... they hate losing... so it's actually very fun making fun of them when they lose... but if you do it too much, they'll get pissed off and won't talk to you for awhile (talking from experience). they also hate it when people are late, but if you train them (as an aquarius... i tend to lack a concept of time), they're okay with that too. great people to be around. a bit too romantic sometimes, but otherwise, great people.
gemini friends are just as fun, not to mention imaginative. if aries people are active, gemini people have ways with words. they'll never have you be bored either, but it's also difficult to keep their attention unless you've got some mental tricks up your sleeve (which, usually i do, so it's no big) to keep them entertained as well. they're not sore losers, they take jokes very well. i don't have many gemini friends, so i can't tell you exactly what their negative points are, but perhaps it's just that; they do not stay long enough for anyone to see their weaknesses, a.k.a. shallowness. i think they have a tendency not to dig too deep, so although they're great, they tend to be a bit superficial.
of course, the above statements are just my analysis, and it doesn't speak for the entire population (naturally).
i can't say i like one or the other better; i like them both! i think it depends on my mood generally, but they're both great to be around!

It depends what your compatible with. Im a libra and i get on better with gemini's. Libra and Gemini are the social queens of the zodiac. Aries can be very bossy and are the opposites of my sign libra. So i definately prefer a gemini.
