Wouldn't it make more sense to base our zodiac sign on the day we were conce!

Question: Yeah I agree with you.
In vedic astrology we do base prediction on conception

Hhmmm.... but we already have a perfectly good system, why change it now after so many years. I say, Nay!

Actually our birthday is directly related to the the day we were conceived. I too say nay!!

That's a pretty interesting question, and I give you props for it. You've piqued my interest more than the other shallow "would does a pisces go good with in bed?!" questions.

*?? Shallow people...

Anyways... No, unfortunately, it wouldn't make more sense. When we're conceived is always debatable by a half a week's margin (since the point at whch two parents do the deed isn't always when the egg is fertilized), and the point at which we come into this life from our mother's womb and begin to be nurtured by our caretakers is the main point that astrology touches. From the old outlook, it's the planets' influences on us the second we exit our mothers. From a psychological outlook, it's the time of the year we're born, the conditions because of the time of year, and the way we're raised because of it.

Example: Libra (Sep. 23 - Oct. 22) Laid-back, lazy, balanced in thought and action, etc.

Back in the day, the adults were just finishing rakin' in the harvest. They had nothing else to do that was life-important, therefore they had all the time in the world to take care of the baby. The baby cried, they had time to pick it up. The child never had any taxing activities, because the parents were there to help. Hence the laid-back and lazy bit. But the child was also born on the edge of Autumn and Winter, the two harshest seasons. They were raised with the knowledge and wisdom of what was important, and how to balance important decisions with wants and needs. Hence, the balance.

So, no, it doesn't make more sense, to sum up the lecture.

Yes, most definately. Today most pregnancies are induced. What does that tell you? Nada. Just the day your doctor decided to pump your mom full of pitocin so she could yah know.

Now, the night of fun and passion your parents shared. Then the competition of sperm thousands and thousands racing for that one little egg, enduring the acidic yah know. How is that not poetic? How can that not tell you something about you. Did the stars, planets, and other celestial bodies not have to be aligned just right? Wouldn't your Mazel have to be preforming in top form on that glorious night?

Yeah, you are right. Conception is the day that started it all.

Nope. Well, not according to my step-dad's ingenius theory about astrology.

My step-dad's theory is that our "astrology profile" actually isn't based on the stars-it's based on our first experiences as humans. Like, when we're born. Before we can remember, but those first few months affect us for the rest of our lives.

Yeah, but chances are due to large amounts of alcohol and partying our parent would not be able to remember. lol =)

great point - the one above my answer.LOL.
I would address you but me and violations (for chatting)don't mix well. who knows if the trolls are working tonite.

if you took all 6 billion people of the world and examined their character, you will find that those who believe in astrology are exactly the way their signs say they are. the rest are all different. unless they are under other cultural influences.

Really the only thing that is truly unique is our DNA.

Makes you wonder about test tube conception. Because embryos can now be frozen for a long time. This is a would be a major delay, conception to birth could be well over a year or more. But the DNA still is the same no matter how long.

Also at least a third of births are induced or C-sections. It is possible to have two different same time births at the same place. In large city hospitals there are quite a few of what are called "time twins". With different sets of parents of course. A lot of "natural" things can be offset by science.

Astrologers emphasize the importance of the positions of the sun, moon, planets, etc., at the time of birth. However, the birthing process isn’t instantaneous. There is no single moment that a person is born. The fact that some official somewhere writes down a time of birth is irrelevant. Do they pick the moment the water breaks? The moment the first dilation occurs? When the first hair or toenail peeks through? When the last toenail or hair passes the last millimeter of the vagina? When the umbilical cord is cut? When the first breath is taken? Or does birth occur at the moment a physician or nurse looks at a clock to note the time of birth?

Why are the initial conditions more important than all subsequent conditions for one’s personality and traits? Why is the moment of birth chosen as the significant moment rather than the moment of conception? Why aren’t other initial conditions such as one’s mother’s health, the delivery place conditions, forceps, bright lights, dim room, back seat of a car, etc., more important than whether Mars is ascending, descending, culminating, or fulminating? Why isn’t the planet Earth—the closest large object to us in our solar system--considered a major influence on who we are and what we become? Other than the sun and the moon and an occasional passing comet or asteroid, most planetary objects are so distant from us that any influences they might have on anything on our planet are likely to be wiped out by the influences of other things here on earth.

we do take this all into consideration,,,what we intuitives do , those whom are teachers, of this art, and gift if you may ,, we use all different methods,, by using solars returns,, horary, methods combined, with your mothers chart and fathers, as well as children,,, there are many methods,, and this one your asking is by far a yes!! We at times need to!! hope this helps,, and ps,, by the way we also see in your astrological chart your moon sign,, and this will tell us also about the DNA of ones parents,,,, Moon is the Mother, ok,, God Bless,
Always & Forever April,

this has been done for centuries, it's known as the "pre-natal epoch". There's a huge problem with it, though--it's quite uncertain and impossible to discover when anyone is conceived, therefore a chart based on the event is little more than pure speculation.
