Most think that a soul mate is a lover, someone whom we can rely on to fill the void, replenish our energies with love & trust.
Soul Mates in spiritual terms fall into two categories.
1 - In its true sense a soul mate would be an aspect of your own higher self, which can split off into may personalities at once. These individuals have the same core as yourself. In this reference of a soul mate it is rare to meet one, unless for higher reasons. A meeting would result in both wishing to evolve into each other, to become one. Nothing would progress & energy could implode = destruction of one or both.
So soul mates meeting usually repel each other, it is not always a harmonious meeting & is usually to clear energy, painfully as attraction is usually strong.
2 - The other description of a true soul mate in spiritual terms requires that we are all part of a spiritual race - therefore all connected. Therefor all have linked karma & baggage. We travel through incarnations within the same spiritual groups until links are undone, so we often meet, or are even born into relationships with soul mates.
Relationship taken from this angle can be destructive, difficult, make us feel powerless as past energy is worked through. These relationships can also be filled with immense love & satisfaction as u know that u belong.
How many times have u met another, regardless of sex, & as soon as you have met you have parted. No animosity, energy was exchanged, you aiding them or visa versa & a few week down the line, the energy dies & you part?

I believe a soulmate is a person who you are meant to spend the rest of your life with, that one person that is made for you, and you are made for him or her.
According to Charmed (I freakin' love that show), soulmates are a pack of souls that drift throughout time together. It could be your love, your relatives, everyone in your immediate circle. I agree with this. I think you can have many soulmates, not just one, and that you go through many lives with the same souls, enemies, friends, and family alike.

a soulmate feels your pain and can almost read your thoughts and can comfort you more than anybody else on earth
they trust eachother completely and are best friends, they have fun together like they were kids alll over again...... they bring out in each other THE BEST and together they make eachother complete. and without eachother they feel desolate and not quite right....... but when tey see each other they both feel that energy again beginning to brue in each others hearts
