Astrology Chart?!

Question:

Astrology Chart?

I'm confused and need some help. They say that the ways of your sign (I am a Virgo) depends on other aspects of your chart.

I don't understand what I am supposed to be looking for, as far as the rest of my chart goes. For example, there are moons, suns, rising this and that, ascendants, etc., etc., but I am absolutely confused by them.

What exactly am I supposed to be looking for? What does an astrology chart look like? How can I understand it better?

I went to www.astro.com, as adviced by some other users on this site, but it only confused me more.

Can anybody help me out?

Answers: An astrology chart is fairly complex, but these are the basics-

Your astrology chart (also known as a birth chart or natal chart) firstly contains the sign placement of the Sun, Moon and planets at the time of your birth. This is what each of them essentially means-

Your Sun sign represents your essential character
Your Moon sign indicates your emotional nature
Your Mercury sign indicates the way you think and communicate
Your Venus sign rules your love nature
Your Mars sign indicates your sexual nature and how you assert yourself
Your Jupiter sign indicates where you will be fortunate
Your Saturn indicates your fears, difficulties and limitations
Your Uranus sign indicates your uniqueness
Your Neptune rules your imaginative faculties
Your Pluto indicates the things about which you are passionate.

The above descriptions are very basic. The meanings of the Sun, Moon and planets are far more complex. These sites provide further information-

The Sun, Moon and planets are always represented as symbols on the birth chart. Each of the symbols is described here-

http://www.astro.com/mtp/mtp12_e.htm...

The actual birth chart is a wheel divided into 12 sections called "houses." The cusp of the first house is called the Ascendant or Rising sign. This is an extremely important point/angle. It rules the type of person you project to the world, the person you want people to see as opposed to the person you truly are, which is ruled by your Sun sign. When young, most people relate more strongly to their Rising sign than their Sun sign.

Each of the houses rules a particular area of life-

First house - your public image
Second house - money
Third house - communication, education
Fourth house - home and family, the mother
Fifth house - children, romance, creativity
Sixth house - work, health
Seventh house - love and marriage
Eighth house - sex, death
Ninth house - travel, religion, higher education
Tenth house - career, ambition
Eleventh house - friends
Twelfth house - the spirit, imagination, dreams

Once again, the above descriptions are extremely basic. The meanings of the houses are far more intricate. These sites contain added information -

A person's Sun, Moon and planets fall in specific houses, depending on their time of birth. For instance, your Sun may be in the sign of Virgo in the fourth house. This means that, together with your Virgo traits, you place a high value on home and family. Here is a sample chart with the Sun, Moon and planets (represented as symbols) placed in the houses-

To calculate your birth chart, you need to include your birth date, birth place and exact time of birth. Without an exact time of birth, you can still calculate your Sun sign, Moon sign (roughly) and the sign placement of your planets. However, an exact time is needed to discover your Rising sign and the house placements of your planets. The cafe astrology site is one of the best for good, detailed information on astrology -

I should also mention the "aspects" made between planets in a birth chart, since this is a major component of birth chart analysis. Planets and angles are said to be in aspect when they are a certain distance from each other. This has an important effect on how the planets express their energies. The major aspects are as follows-

Conjunction - when two planets share the same degree. This is the most powerful and dynamic aspect in astrology. The energies of the two planets are fused and express as one.

Opposition - when two planets are directly opposite one another or 180 degrees apart. The energies of the planets tend to rival and compete with each other with this aspect.

Square - when the planets are 90 degrees apart, a stressful aspect.

Quincunx or Inconjunct - 150 degrees, powerful but stressful.

Semi-square - 45 degrees apart, can be quite significant, depending on the planets involved.

Trine - 120 degrees apart, the energy flowing between the planets is easy and harmonious

Sextile - 60 degrees apart, another easy flowing aspect.

Semi-sextile - 30 degrees apart, normally a very minor aspect, but it can be significant, depending on the importance of the planets involved.

Here again is some additional information -

http://lessons.astrology.com/course/show... If you were to think of your Sun sign as your soul -- your inner personality and potential -- and your Moon sign as your heart -- your emotional core -- then you could say that your Rising sign also known as Ascendant is your physical self or the face you present to the world.

Milly did you also do the personality profile....there are articles too with good info...also ggogle rochelle gordon who will do your chart and explain it for you... Basics are;

The sun is your basic star sign, the moon moves through the zodiac every 28 days. The rising, also known as the ascendant, is the sign that rises on the horizon during your time of birth. Because the rising sees the entire zodiac in 24 hours, your time of birth is very important to find out your rising sign.

Those three make up the basics of your chart. Your sun is your ego, the foundations of your personality. In your case, that would be virgo. Imagine the sun as the foundations of a house; everything is built on it, anything bad in the foundation and the entire building suffers from it. The same happens with the sun. Any bad aspect with the sun (square - 90° separation - or opposition - 180° separation - ... or even conjunction - no separation - with a "malignent" (bad) planet) and your entire personality suffers from it.

Then there's the moon. The moons tell you how you deal with emotions, and where your needs lie; where you feel most comfortable. It is kind of like the interior of a home; it tells you more about what goes on in that person's psyche.

And then there's the rising. It makes up the face of our "building", it is the first thing people see and notice about us. First impressions are usually based on the rising's characteristics. This is your "face" - literally. Your rising largely affects your physical appearance, together with whatever planets there are in the 1st house. (This is the house following the rising counter-clockwise, just look for the "1" on the chart).

Those are the three most important things to look for. BUT, the other planets - and dwarf planets - are equally important to look for!

Personal planets are;

Mercury: rules the mind, speech, communication in any form.
Venus: rules the "heart", things you love, beauty, artistic influence, and anything "cosmetic"
Mars: rules energy, anger, sex, fights, etc...

For these planets, it is equally important the house they are in as the sign they are in. Since they move through the zodiac quite fast, the signs they are in still have an effect on us individually.

Transitional planets:

Jupiter: rules expansion, excess, joviality
Saturn: rules discipline, loss, ...

These planets still have an influence on the individual from both the signs and the houses they are in - they move remarkably slower than the personal planets. The influence recieved from the houses is remarkably bigger than the influence from the signs. The influence from the signs in these planets can usually be found in a collective of age-sakes, people from the same age group.

Generational planets:

Uranus: rules sudden change, eccentricity, rebelliousness, mutability, genius, higher education
Neptune: rules dreams, illusions, addictions, abuse, fantasies, hope, spirituality

The position of these two planets in the houses is much more influential to your personality than the position of those planets in signs. Because they move so slowly, usually entire generations share the same planet-sign position, in which an entire generation would have the same planet-sign influences from those planets. The planet-sign position refers more to the collective than it does to the individual.

The dwarf-planets:

Ceres: rules fertility, birth, nurturing (and directly rules food and clothing)
Pluto: (now a dwarf planet, but still interesting in astrology) rules death, rebirth, the subconscious, the end of things

These are both now dwarf planets. In my opinion, their influence in astrology has always been on the same level. You can imagine this level as a step deeper into your personality where it becomes more complicated. Even though Eris is considered a dwarf planet as well, its recent discovery has made it that there is little to nothing known about this dwarf planet's effect on our horoscopes. It also moves remarkably slower than any other planetoid, so it spends a very long time on one sign. Ceres and Pluto, however, seem to have opposing rulerships; one rules birth of life and the other rules the death of it. For both, the sign as well as the house they are in, are equally important. However, because this is a deeper level of consciousness, their effect on your personality will not be as obvious as the effect of all the other planets, let alone the effect of sun, moon and rising on your personality.

Hope this helped... if you want more info, feel free to read my 360° blog. I'm collecting data about charts and astrology there for reference for anyone who would feel the need to learn about it. an astrology chart is like a life map. it illustrates all the planetary movements in your particular chart which is personally yours. It is such a vastly complicated subject - no wonder you are confused! Still you have got some brilliant answers from this web-site and in addition you may wish to embark on some formal study - either by a book such as 'Parkers Astrology', or by an email correspondence course, or even a local evening class.

You have to be careful though, as there are many many schools of thought! I prefer a more 'traditional' approach and some of the more modern astrology can be a bit 'wishy washy for me'.

Good luck. I have been studying Astrology for some years; still am so far away from anything.

Planets and Possibilities is a book by Susan Miller. A beginner's book. I studied that as a start.

It explains the understanding of planets and so much more.
Then pick up some more.

We have to see which Planet is where in a chart to understand,
Take any Planet, say Venus. See where it is in, in your chart. Now where should it be?
Which house is the house of the Planet, Venus.
Is it in a friendly house.
What does that House signify?

If you visit a friend's house, how do you feel as against an enemy's house.
Some houses can be neutral.
It works that way. Is the Planet friendly with the Planet's house it is in...
This is simply put.

Work on this as on what all here have said.
Wish you best.
