Cancer and Scorpio... do they work?

I've read the Yahoo! Horoscope, so please don't just copy and paste it from there. I know they're both water signs, but I want to hear an outside opinion or personal experience.

I'm a Cancer and I know a guy who is a Scorpio, we seem to get along, but aren't Scorpio's supposed to be stubborn and manipulative? I am a true Cancer, sensitive, sweet, and I don't like being pushed around. Is my idea on Scorpio's false? Would it work out? Thanks for any opinions or help.

P.S. I know you're now supposed to live by signs and stuff, I just generally want to know. :)
