What are some of the things you do?
(Sometimes, I sleep with it under my pillow for a few days before I try to read with them - other times I jump right in, depends on how it feels ... )

Play with them.
Shuffle, shuffle, shuffle. I also draw cards as I'm watching TV or a movie for fun, and then try to fit the card I drew somehow into what's on. This can help you to learn the deck, and the meaning.
I like to separate them into their groups, and put them in order, then I'll make 7 piles, dealing one card into each pile, to start mixing them back up. I do this with the cards face up so I can look at them, and if I'm drawn to one I'll contemplate it for a while.
Do a new deck reading.
Do a ritual.
Do what feels right to you.
