March 20, 1976, Pisces or Aries?

This is my husbands Birthday. For many years he always believed himself to be a Pisces. About a year ago we were in a book store and I picked up an astrology book (Sorry - I really don't remember which one) and it mentioned that a person born on March 20th in the year 1976 was actually an Aries. I admit that I am completely ignorant to serious astrology so forgive me if I am inaccurate but the book mentioned that the dates that are normally given for each astrological sign are guidelines rather than set in stone. And that when people are born on the cusp, there is a chance that they actually fall into being the sign that they originally were simply on the cusp of. Can anyone please shed light?
