The theory regards the Earth gravitational pull during a full moon. It supposedly affects a person chemical (in)balance. There is no scientific study that has found a corelation.
This idea though may have also started way back when certain groups worshipped the moon.
A couple of studies have shown a slight increase in crime during full moon, but others attributed the increase that to the fact that there is more (moon) light for criminals to use to commit certain crimes and at the same time under the cover of night.
By the way, A womans menstrual cycle is also the same amount of time as a lunar cycle (29+/- days.....).
