they telling that if you saw a falling star... make a wish and it'll come true... is that true?

Falling stars happen 24 hrs. a day, but when the sun is up on Earth you just can't see them.As for the wishes coming true, I don't think so, because I've been wishing on them for 40 years, and I keep getting older.
