Depends on what you mean by "a good sign".

Aries - progressive but also very me-me-me-me
Gemini - talks and talks about everything - but is prone to lie.
Cancers - generally nice people - but get hurt so easily - and never forgets it.
Leos - magnetic leaders - but need an audience
Virgos - analytic but also very nit-picking and critical
Libras - is very sociable/talks to everybody - but gossip alot and tell secrets
Scorpios - protect what they love - but can be mean and egoistical
Sages - easy-going but self-rightious and hate commitments
Capricorns - hardworkers with great stamina but very harsh about feelings - others and their own
Aquarius - freethinkers/they like most people, have no ill wish towards anyone but play by their own rules and hate feelings.
Pisces - bends and flows, but will say anything to anyone - even if it isn't true.

I don't know, if you really wanted to help your child with astrology; you should try to influence the sun- and moonsign and the ascendant (because they all say a lot about a person) - and you know, that's plain impossible. Astrology is never based upon the sunsign alone, I'm afraid.

For instance mine's Leo-sun, cancer-moon and Aquarius rising - now that says something about a person.
