Scorpio and Pluto?!

Question:

Scorpio and Pluto?

I'm sure this has been asked in the past but here we go again! :P

A friend of mine brought up that since Pluto is not offically a planet anymore what is Scorpio's "Ruling Planet" I'm assuming it is still Pluto cause you cannot simply start planet hopping but I'm wondering if I am wrong.

Can anyone shine light on this for I'm a Scorpio (WOOHOO) and I'm rather curious!

Answers:

Pluto was only discovered in 1930. Officially anyway. It's existence wasn't even known before that year, and Astrology is a study of at least over 3000 years old. Now you can say all you want about Astrologers, but they're *not* psychics, so there is no way in hell they've always known about Pluto, and needless to say it hasn't always been Scorpio's ruling planet.

The traditional system was this;

Aries - Mars
Taurus - Venus
Gemini - Mercury
Cancer - Moon
Leo - Sun
Virgo - Mercury
Libra - Venus
Scorpio - Mars
Sagittarius - Jupiter
Capricorn - Saturn
Aquarius - Saturn
Pisces - Jupiter

Those were the only known planets - all were visible with the naked eye. This also gives the idea that there are two different sides to each planet. But then, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto were discovered. And before that, Ceres, which had the status of planet before thousands of other similar rocks were found in its surroundings, in orbit around the Sun. That's when it got demoted to Asteroid - but it used to be a planet for a short while.

So the traditional system evolved to a modern one, in which every sign that had a planet which already ruled another sign, was being assigned another ruler till they were out of planets, which is;

Aries - Mars
Taurus - Venus
Gemini - Mercury
Cancer - Moon
Leo - Sun
Virgo - Mercury
Libra - Venus
Scorpio - Pluto
Sagittarius - Jupiter
Capricorn - Saturn
Aquarius - Uranus
Pisces - Neptune

I like to use both systems, including Ceres and now Eris. Ceres would rule Virgo - logically speaking - and Eris... I don't know... I suppose Libra is the only vacant one? But since I've never considered Pluto as a planet, I've always used Mars as Scorpio's ruler.
