In a chart what is the difference between transits and progressions?!

Question:

In a chart what is the difference between transits and progressions?

Answers:

Transits refer to the daily movement of the planets around our solar system. Astrologers are concerned with the way in which these planets impact sensitive points in a person's birth chart and with ascertaining their various effects on the person's life.

Progressions are another tool of astrological prediction. The birth chart of an individual is progressed one day for every year of their life and the two charts (natal and progressed) are then compared.

For instance, in order to ascertain the possible events that will occur in an individual's life during their 20th year, 20 days are added to the person's birth date and a new "progressed" chart is created. The progressed position of the luminaries (Sun/Moon) and planets are then compared with the natal positions. It may be discovered, for example, that the Venus in the progressed chart has reached the exact position of the Sun in the natal chart. The astrologer will then suggest a possible influence for this progression (progressed Venus conjunct natal Sun often indicates marriage).

Astrologers normally combine progressions and transits in their predictive work. Progressions are viewed as "potential" events, while the transits are viewed as triggering and manifesting these events.
