Why doesn't each sign have a month?!

Why doesn't each sign have a month?

why do the signs have to share monthes. there's 12 signs right? and theres 12 monthes, so why doesn't each sign their own month?

taurus- may
gemini- june
cancer- july
leo- august
virgo- september
libra- october
scorpio- november
sag- december
capricorn- january
aquarius- febuary
pisces- march.

You know how you can look up, and see the moon in front of the background of stars? Over the course of a night, the stars move, and the moon pretty much moves with them. But over the course of the month, the moon moves through the stars.

The sun does the same thing, except it takes the sun a year to move through all the stars, and end up where it started a year ago.

The sun signs are supposed to be the constellations that the sun moves through throughout the year. For instance, throughout May 21-ish through June 21-ish, the sun is supposed to be in the constellation of Gemini. Then it moves to the next constellation over, Cancer. And so on. You can't see it, because when the sun is out, the other stars arne't visible. But through observation and careful tracking, you can work out where the sun is in relation to all the rest of the stars.

Of course, constelations are defined primarily by the stars that make up the pattern, so there is of course space between them. So astronomers split up the sky into chunks, and "Cancer" is also the chunk of the sky that Cancer is in.

But of course, those chunks aren't really all the same size. And the dates you see in books and newspapesr are all wrong. They are off by exaxctly a month.

And there's a 13th constellation that almost no one has heard of, called ophiucus, that fits in around scorpio.

So if you wanted to arbitrarily decide that Capricorn was really all of January, go for it. It doesn't make any more sense than accepting the wrong dates that everyone already accepts.
