Would a lack of planets in my 7th house indicate a lack of interest in relationships?

A lack of planets in the 7th house would not, of itself, indicate a lack of interest in relationships.

There are other indications in a chart that would place a major focus on relationships. One of these indications is an emphasis on Libra in the chart, such as the Sun, Ascendant or Moon in Libra. Libra is the ruler of the 7th house of love and marriage. It rules "others" as opposed to the "self". Consequently, Librans feel the instinctive need for a partner in life to help them discover and strengthen their sense of self and thus make them feel more complete.

The above interpretation also applies to someone whose Sun sign/house ruler or Ascendant ruler is in Libra (eg Aries Sun/Libra Mars) or who has a number of planets in the sign of Libra. Having an Aries Ascendant (and thus Libra at the cusp of the 7th house) would also place an emphasis on relationships.

Venus in the first or tenth house would similarly highlight relationships in the life of an individual, since these are the most public and visible houses. Planets in these houses express themselves very strongly to the outside world.

If none of the above features are present in a person's chart, then one must look at

-the placement and condition of Venus

-the sign on the Descendant/cusp of the 7th house

-the placement and condition of the ruler of the Descendant

The sign on the Descendant is frequently a very strong indication of what an individual is seeking in a partner. The sign/house placement and aspects made by Venus and the Descendant ruler will similarly indicate a person's attitude and expression of love, as well as their experience of relationships. If Venus, the Descendant or Descendant ruler is strongly aspected by a benefic luminary or planet such as the Sun or Jupiter, then the person is likely to attract many positive relationship experiences.

A lack of interest or focus on relationships in a person's life is normally indicated by a major Saturn influence on a person's Venus, Descendant ruler or 7th house. Saturn is the planet of delays, hard times, restrictions and obstacles. If Saturn is placed in the 7th house of love and marriage or if Venus, the Descendant or the Descendant ruler is conjunct, opposed or square Saturn, then relationships can become problematic and a source of great anxiety.

The above also applies to Venus or the Descendant in Capricorn and to Saturn in Libra.

Since the Moon/4th house rules the wife and women generally in a man's chart, a man with the Moon in strong aspect to Saturn, the Moon in Capricorn or with Saturn in the 4th house may have problems relating to women. In a woman's chart, the Sun/5th house and Mars rules men and the husband. Consequently, if a woman's Sun/5th house or Mars is strongly aspected/influenced by Saturn or Capricorn, this can create anxiety in relation to men.

At worst, people with several such influences avoid relationships altogether and choose never to marry. They find relating to others and establishing relationships far too difficult and burdensome and, in the end, prefer an independent, single life. Saturn is also said to produce the loveless marriage of convenience.

At best, Saturn makes the individual extremely serious and responsible when it comes to love. Relationships are often delayed because the individual is not interested in frivolous, temporary affairs. They seek a solid, secure, committed relationship that will last a lifetime, and this takes time and patience to find.

Since Saturn also rules age, Saturn impacting on Venus, the 7th house, a woman's Sun/5th house/Mars or a man's Moon/4th house also produces relationships with a big age difference or marriage to a Capricorn, the sign ruled by Saturn.
