There is little interest of truth. Belief is what really counts otherwise why bother at all.
Humans are pattern seeking beings. A big drawback is we are also gullible. We easily accept "too good to be true" things, often based on just say-so. A lot of people are seduced by delusional magical thinking. Age, rational thinking, and education, should have abandoned such thinking. But as long someone is getting rich from these believers (millions of dollars spent every year), it will never fade away.
