Moon conjunct sun?!

Question:

Moon conjunct sun?

why is it considered somewhat of a problem in astrology (although still pretty good for the overall relationship) when the guy's moon is conjunct the girl's sun rather than the other way around?

Answers:

This is a good question.

The Moon is meant to be more "submissive" than the Sun. The Sun emits energy and light, while the Moon reflects back that light. Therefore, when a person's Moon conjuncts someone's Sun, the Moon person is supposedly compelled into the supportive role, while the Sun person takes on the dominant, expressive role. It's comparable to that traditional marriage where the husband worked and played an active part in the community while the wife stayed home and supported him in his career (the "behind every great man is a great woman" scenario).

Consequently, many astrologers say that it's better if the woman is the Moon and the man is the Sun, since the other way round can place the man in the supportive role, so that he is too "submissive" in the relationship.

I personally don't agree with that at all. Nor do I understand why there is anything wrong with a man being supportive of his partner or how this means he is "submissive". The theory also assumes that a woman is more comfortable in the back-up role, which is also highly disputable.

From my experience, Sun conjunct Moon in synastry works beautifully both ways. In fact, since the Moon in a man's chart strongly indicates the type of woman he seeks to marry, then the man being the Moon person seems to me to have the advantage. It would mean that the woman possesses many of the qualities the man seeks in a partner. Consequently, it would add strength to the bond.
