Yes or No on Prop 8?!

Question: Yes or No on Prop 8!?
I'm so confused!. Yes or no and why!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
I will be voting no on Proposition 8 ("Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California") and here's why!. I think it is badly written, ambiguous, divisive, and on the wrong side of history!.

WHAT MAKES A MAN!?
It's nearly impossible to legally define "man" and "woman"!. It can't be done by mere appearance; there are many masculine-appearing women and feminine-appearing men!. It can't be defined by which sex one self-identifies with; what's to stop someone from saying they feel like a man just to get married to her lesbian partner!? It can't be done by inspecting genitalia; there are many pre-operative transsexuals and there are many female impersonators who have implants to heighten the illusion as well as other concerns!. It can't be defined by who can and can't bear children or who does or does not produce sperm; does a woman who's had a hysterectomy suddenly become male or does a man who's been castrated suddenly become female!? And, finally, it can't be decided by looking at chromosomes; women born with Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome have XY chromosomes but in all other respects are female!.

As a result, the proposed "amendment" is ambiguous in to whom it applies!.

SEPARATE BUT EQUAL
I can't think of *ANY* previous constitutional amendments that are specifically designed to *ELIMINATE* rights of a certain group!.

Supporters of Prop 8 say that gay couples can have "domestic partnerships"; that's the same "separate but equal" argument used in segregation!. There are many automatic rights and benefits granted by the government in a marriage but require a skilled lawyer for a domestic partnership--if they're even *available* to that domestic partnership!.

Take, for example, the requirement that a domestic partnership REQUIRES the two people to live together!. There is no such requirement for a marriage!. Separate is hardly *EVER* equal (And unconstitutional, to boot) and it isn't in this case either!.

TRADITION
Finally, Proposition 8 is on the "wrong side of history!." Supporters claim that Proposition 8 only maintains "traditional" marriage!. It was 'traditional' to deny women the right to vote!. It was 'traditional' to have slaves!. It was 'traditional' to deny inter-racial marriage!. Those traditions were wrong--they still are--and so is this 'tradition' of governments only offering certain benefits to heterosexual couples!.

Prop 8 should be defeated!. If they want to "protect marriage" they should outlaw divorce!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

No on Prop 8!.
8 takes away rights, and puts it into our CONSTITUTION that two people of the same gender can't be married, which basically amounts to INEQUALITY!. Do you want it in our state's constitution that we're for "some are more equal than others" and bigotry!? It can't force churches to marry anyone (just like they can't force the Catholic church to marry non-Catholics), all it does is give people the same rights under the law!. For everyone that thinks the world is going to end if we let gay marriage exist!.!.!.!.it's been going on for awhile and it's obviously not causing any problems!. It has no effect on what children learn in school (do you ever remember learning about straight marriage when you were a child!? probably not!.!.!.no one focuses on it)!. Marriage in terms of a legal agreement is something that religion shouldn't come into play in, and that's what people who are pro-8 are trying to do, force their views on others, and take away rights, saying some people aren't as good as others!. Gay marriage doesn't hurt anyone, it'll boost our economy, and what's so wrong with people being happy!? It's not a threat against the institution of marriage, it's not going to turn anyone else gay, so people should just learn a little tolerance and look at it in terms of the law!. What gives anyone the right to dictate to someone else that they shouldn't have the same rights!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

I don't live in CA, but please vote NO on prop 8!. I know this is a controversial issue, but really it shouldn't be!. Seriously people, doesn't everyone deserve to be happy!?

I believe that anyone who wants to marry someone ought to be able to, don't you!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

NO!. Anything that takes away personal freedom is not a good law!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
