Answers:
Hello! Let me state up front that neither of the issues you reference are problems with your guitar! The piece rattling around in the cavity underneath the neckplate is just a set screw, included as part of a provision for an angular correction of the neck relative to the body!. Fender calls this a "Micro-Tilt" adjustment (see http://www!.fender!.com/support/stratocast!.!.!. however, unless your guitar required an adjustment at the factory, it is only included in case there is a need during future setups!. I would recommend just leaving it alone, as it causes no harm!. The tuners for the E and A strings are higher to keep the strings from contacting the headstock as they exit the nut!. If you look closely, you will see that the D and G tuners are also at a slightly different height, again for the same reason!. The intent is to provide for the best downward pressure against the nut, while still keeping the strings away from the wood surface of the headstock!. Don’t worry, your guitar is fine!
