Well I got bored and curious so Im going to try to solve!.

By the way these belong in the category of science, specifically biology!.

Since I have an indepth knowledge of science and the arts I think I can figure out most of these by thinking of science based words!. Most of these sound biological in nature!.

Well anyhow here are the answers!.!.
I still can't think of an alg word that means pain but if I do I will let you know!.!.!. If someone knows of a word please post for curiosity sake!.

1!. ambi-
Think of the word ambidexterous(Write with both hands)!. That would tell me this prefix means "both" Another interpretation might be "all" as in the word ambient!.

2!. alb-
This makes me think of the word albino, meaning "white"

3!. alto-
I recognize this from music theory!. Alto is a "high" note, in spanish this word means tall!.

4!. amphi-
This makes me think of amphibian!. Amphibians can live in both in and out of water!. So I believe this is a biological prefix meaning both!.

5!. amyl-
For this one you have to know a little about Chemistry!.
Amylase is a substance found in your syliva which breaks down starches into sugar!. So any compound with amyl has "starch"

6!. alg-; algia -
This is the only one I had to look up!.
It comes from Biology!. Specifically in massage therapy!. These words are characteristic of something that causes pain!. I can't think of an example word for this one!.

7!. agri-
Agriculture, field, soil

8!. amni -
Amniotic fluid, fetal membrane

9!. al-
Think of algorithm or "al dente!." An algorithm is a pattern, it suggest that there is a structure to the information!. Thus everything in the algorithm is a character or part of a whole!. Likewise, in cooking "al dente" means "to taste!." When you add salt al dente, you are adding it to how you would like it to taste!. In other words how the food is made is based on your character style!.
