HI There,

Welcome to the world of band!.!.!. hopefully you are really going to enjoy it!.
Now, if your band teacher is advising against the school's instrument, she is giving you the heads up to get something better!. At least she is being honest and trying to help!.

I have a few brands that you can go looking for whether you try to find a good used one or if you are buying new!.

Gemeinhardt
Armstrong
Emerson
Yamaha
Pearl

All of these manufacturers make beginner model instruments which would be:

Silver plated headjoint / body / footjoint

C foot

Closed or open holes!.!.!. that is your choice but if you want to be ahead of the game, you might choose the open hole flute with plugs inserted into the holes until you are able to remove them as you improve to become a better player!. The advanced students usually choose to play on open holes!.

Those are the specs for any basic student model!.

I would stick with silver plated rather than nickel, as the nickel finish tends to wear away and leave the flute very ugly!. There are no brass flutes!.

Hope that helps and thank you for reading :))Www@Enter-QA@Com
