Are the mandolin and the guitar basically the same thing?!

Question: Are the mandolin and the guitar basically the same thing!?
if not, how are they different!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
Completely different instruments and tunings!. The mandolin has 8 strings: two each of g,d,a,and e!. It is smaller than a guitar!. There are three basic shapes: a "gourd" mandolin that is often used to play Celtic and Baroque, an F-style that looks like a miniature electric guitar (only made from wood) and an "A" style!. Some other styles have existed over time, such as "Florentine!." In Bluegrass music, the mandolin replaces the snare drum as a percussive instrument and plays "chucks!."

An acoustic guitar normally has 6 strings, unless it is a 12 stringed instrument!. Then the strings are doubled up!. The "normal" G tuning for a guitar is e, a, d, g, b, e!. Because the strings are longer, the tone is deeper and richer than a mandolin's!. Other tunings for different types of music may be used!.

They are completely different instruments, with different picking techniques, tone, and "feel!."Www@Enter-QA@Com

The mandolin is smaller and has eight strings!. The strings are paired like on a 12 string guitar!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
