Question: In browsing on the net I have occasionally come across violin kits!.How do they compare with the "real" thing!?
Surely kits that are put together are lacking in the sound that crafted instruments would have !? Almost like a DIY violin!?
Or a fiddle!.

No, I wouldn't fool with that; that's something that people interested in becoming luthiers look at!. You have to have a lot of training, and a lot of the proper tools (things like a glue pot, and scrapers, and all kinds of knives) in order to put it together!.
