Question: How do I pick a child's guitar!?
My son will be turning 8 and has requested a guitar for his birthday!. This will be his first guitar!. I have no idea as to which guitar would be best for him!. I am looking for something in the price range of $20-50 and will fit his size!. I have found several on eBay, but I am afraid they are crap!. Answers:
First the price range you have will only buy crap!. I would take your child to a locally owned music store, at eight he likely needs a 3/4 size guitar!. There are several guitars between $79!.95 and $119!.95 that would be suitable!. I can personally recommend the J!. Reynolds model Jr 15C, this is a real guitar, that plays in tune with nylon (classical) strings which will make it easier for him to learn!. Any guitar in the 20-50 range, won't be able to play in tune with itself, unless it is a decent used guitar someone's trying to get rid of!. Size in your son's case is an issue, because of hand position, with a guitar to big or to small, it will make things more difficult for him to play!.
