Science Fiction?!
Question: Science Fiction!?
What are your top three favorite Sci-Fi series!? And why!? This can be TV, books, or movies!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Answers:
1) Firefly
The Outlaw Josie Wales in space!. If only this series had had the chance to mature, it would have been something great!. Instead, it's almost a metaphor for itself!. Fighting a losing battle, and losing!.
2) Doctor Who
I've always loved time travel as a plot device!. While in most of the Doctor Who stories it doesn't serve as a central feature, I still just love the show!. A renegade Time Lord bouncing around time and space saving the universe while breaking all the rules!? An ultra-right-wing-conservative's dream come true!
3) Blake's 7
Given my first two picks, this one should be obvious!. A group of escaped political criminals trying to overthrough a Galactic dictatorship!. This one has it all - except of course decent sets, props, and special effects!. But the overall storyline more than makes up for it!.
Other really good ones -
Lexx - Only saw one or two of these, but they looked fun!.
Red Dwarf - Stupid, goofy, zero logic or continuity, but hilarious!.
Dune (books) - They got pretty wonky by about book 3, but until then!.!.!.brilliant!.
Dresden Files (books only) - The thankfully short-lived TV series almost ruined the total awesomeness of the books!. Read, don't watch!.
Deep Space 9 - I'm not much of a Star Trek fan; never been able to suspend disbelief long enough to buy into functioning socialism!. But the last 2 or 3 seasons of this show were fun!. Lots of shootin' and killin'!.
Pandora's Star/Judas Unbound - I don't know if you can consider 2 books a series!. I'm assuming not, otherwise this would have probably been my #1 pick!. It contains the single most terrifying alien race I have ever run across, and as much as I read, that's saying a lot!.
God, I could do this all day!.!.!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
