Jeff Healey, a man that died recently, was blind since he was 1 year old. He was known as one of the better guitarists out there. He taught himself by laying the guitar down and playing it like a steel guitar. Maybe that would work for you also.
get a good teacher who is understanding of the situation and be prepared to memorize a lot
