High School senior...not going to prom or caring about it. Is that weird?!
Question: I'm a senior, in my last semester of high school (woot!) and this guy asked me out to prom. I said " No thanks, I'm not going to Prom..." He was shocked, it was so funny. At first he was asking me if I was just saying that to not go with him but later he kept asking me if I was alright and blah blah. My friends keep trying to convince to buy a ticket. I could care less about Prom really. Everyone keeps telling and I quote " It's your last year, you HAVE to go to Prom!" Is it really such a big deal?

I really don't want to go out and buy a dress just for Prom...

It isn't weird to not to go to prom. It is your choice--- I mean there are other people that will not go to prom too right? Just relax, don't think that you are weird (Cause if you do....then you are! HAHAHA LOL, just kidding don't be mad) also do not think that you are the only one who will not go to prom. I'm going to 3rd year highschool next year (just enjoying my vacation) and I'm not going to prom (I better not go, I may miss my fave shows) and so is 4th year highschool. Good luck and don't be bothered by other people.
nah its not weird at all. Some ppl just dont like that whole deal u know? i didnt go to my senior yr prom tho i went to my junior year. To me its just over hyped. I didnt go cuz i moved my last yr of high school and just i wasnt into it. I mean its ur call jus stand by it. u dont wanna look bk and regret. If ur friends are ur friends they'll just see that u jus dont wanna go =)
No, I don't think it's weird, I completely feel the same way! But my friends are doing the same thing-even going on about how they'll buy my dress, organise everything etc. I dunno, to me, it's just no big deal. There are a lot of girls who have just waited and dreamed about it for so long, so I guess maybe to them I/we may seem strange.
Nah you're not weird, I didn't go to mine last semester( it was more like 2 semesters ago). Some people think like it's the biggest event of their lives but others feel like it's just another school function and in my opinion it's also the most expensive. I suggest you go- Dunno your reasoning's.. maybe you are disassociated from the hoopla, the social net that surrounds it... or could be yer head is somewhere else.... What-eve.... in later times you will reminisce and wonder what it would've been like. Its not like going to the clinic and getting a shot, you know! Plus a prom is like the rite of passage into the first step of adulthood. The beginning of good and bad decisions. Don't dance, don't buy pics, (regrettable..) you don't hafta dress like Barbie... Go GOth! But go...
