Which would be better to learn to play, Guitar or Drums?!

Answers: imma get one of em for my birthday and wanna learn one

I am learning to play both right now, and I can't say which would be better for you, but here are some of the factors that might help you decide:

Guitar is frustrating because it hurts your fingers when you start playing, and unless you fight the pain and practice every day, anyway, you won't develop the calluses you need to make it less painful. It's also more difficult because until you've practiced a lot, the strings are likely to buzz and sound bad. These two things are probably the biggest reasons I haven't touched my guitar in 6 months or so.

Drums are a lot more intuitive, and there's less of a learning curve before it starts to feel like you're really playing -- but the big drawback is the noise. Unless you have a sound-proof room to practice in, you're in for a hassle trying to find a time to play when you won't bother anyone. If you live in an apartment, it's practically impossible.

As far as the personalities of the instruments within a band... I would say that as a drummer, you have to be content to stay out of the spotlight. You're not likely to be writing the songs, just following along and picking the beats that match the guitar parts. You won't be dancing around on stage or leading the crowd... you'll just be sitting there, concentrating hard, and sweating. As a guitar player, you're more likely to be the face of the band.

Hope this helps.

I think the drums would be easier to learn, but the guitar would be more fun. Either way, they're both fun instruments. Good luck:]

everyone is a guitarist, and almost no one is a drummer. If you want to be under the spotlight go for a guitar. If you want to be the backbone of the band, and get many offers to play, be a drummer.

guitar, and not just because it gets you the chicks, but it doesn't hurt. Just think of it, if you want to just play a few songs for someone by your self, there are a lot more songs you can play on guitar alone then on drums alone.

plus, it's easier to whip out a guitar than a 30 piece drum set.
