Answers: I want to hear an explanation of the steel wheels aka turntables. In detail explain how to beat match and transition.

well, basic turntabling is between 2 record players that have pitch (speed) control for each one. music plays at different speeds so beat matching is finding a common tempo for them both. you put your first record on and play it out loud for everyone and have it at a determined speed so that they can bust a groove. you then put the other record on but with the volume down. on your mixing board there will be a control so that you can listen to both the out loud playing song and the one that you want to cue to the same tempo. with the headphones you will find a beat hit on the record and pull back and forth on the record so that you can control the beat hit. now you want to adjust your headphone controls so that you can hear both beats clearly. now, beats in music have a count. it is generally 4 beats to a bar, and 32 beats a verse (something like that). you want to make the timing of the song the same so you need to train yourself to be able to count beats. if gets easy after a while. now when you start your beat hits with the second song on the right timing, let the records play together. you will then need to adjust the second song eaith faster or slower with the pitch control on your record player. it take a trained ear and knowing your music so tell the difference between the songs which comes in time. now after you learn to make the beats hit at the same time, you then would bring up the volume of the second song and then lower the first one. Alot of dj's will use transition methods like playing with the bass, mid and high dials. using these make make the sound of transition seemless.
this is turntabling in a nutshell !!
