How hard is music GCSE?!

Question: My brother wants to take music as one of his GCSE options. The trouble is he can only sing, he doesnt know how to play an instrument or how to read music.

is it possible for him to get through on just singing or will this be really hard? aparantly he has to make his own songs??

thankyou!

Hi, i did GCSE music and got an A. it is difficult for me to say wether your brother will be ok doing this GCSE as there will probably curriculum differences, however mine was made up of composition, performance and written pieces. The performances he would be fine to sing in, the written work is like any other subjects coursework so he would be fine. The composition might require him to be able to write some music, however there are computer programes which when you play an instrument e.g. keyboard they write the music for you as you play so maybe he could use something like this if he really has a passion for doing this GCSE. Hope this helps

I got a B in music so not really that hard
