Hey,

I hope this helps with your questions.
First off, it is cheaper to buy a whole set. You would most likely not want to mix and match different kinds of drums because you will have a very hard time attaining a consistent sound. I would not recommend the drum set you listed. I will include a few links at the bottom for decent beginner drum kits. They will be a little bit more expensive than 300$ but will definately be worth the extra money.

As far as cymbals go, the expensive ones are definately worth it. I made the mistake of buying a cheap set of cymbals when I first started drumming and I wished I would have used the money towards good cymbals. What I did was i just bought 1 cymbal every 2 months for a year and a half and now I have an incredible set up. You may not be able to afford to buy them all at once so start with hi-hats, then maybe a ride or a crash and then in no time you will have a set up of really good cymbals that will not strain your budget too much at one time. I am partial to Sabian cymbals and I would recommend looking at their AA, AAX and Vault lines. In my opinion, there is no better crash cymbal out there than the Vault's. Just make sure you try everything out before you buy it because what matters is what you hear. And please, don't waste your money on cheap cymbals!!!

I hope this helps!! If ylou have any other questions please feel free to e-mail me. If there is other information regarding drums that you need check other questions I have answered as I always go into great detail.
