Have television and the internet become the gods of the modern age?!

Question: Yes.

They (internet, radio, television) tell us not to go outside of our homes because when we do bad things happen. People get hurt, they disappear, they are murdered, or worse.

The message is that it is more practical to stay at home.

Why? Because the ideal future according to the powers that control holds an enforced lifestyle of being restricted from leaving our homes. We will be told this is for our own safety, but it more or less will be another way the government will enforce it's ultimate control over us.

Think about it. We can now do virtually everything from home. We can shop from home (internet), bank from home (online banking and stock trading), educate ourselves and our families from home (homeschooling and online universities), feed ourselves from home (online take out ordering, and online grocery orders).

The workplace is also transitioning to people's homes (telecommuting). More and more service jobs are being replaced by machines and computers (automated checkout at the grocery, automated banking). Service jobs will be eliminated when no one needs to go outside of their homes any longer.

Our social lives are also becoming less and less personal as well by moving online (online dating, chat rooms, instant messaging, e-mail, yahoo answers). People now don't really need to leave their house to satisfy their craving for human interaction.

The price of gas is ridiculous, this is so people will choose jobs they can work from home instead of spending that money just getting to and from work.

You can draw your own conclusions, but as for me, I see where all of this is headed. I think we are headed for a police state where everyone will be monitored and controlled in a complete lock down state every single minute of every hour of every day of our lives.

yeah definitely! I bet the majority would break down within a week without TV or the internet!

only after me!

for me .the rain god and neptune are the real gods

They are not "Gods," they are "gadgets" of the modern age.

Yes. Because of computers we have limited possibilities of communication. The TV keeps us updated with the outer world.

Yes. Just look on this forum. The majority of the users can barely write complete sentences, let alone error free.

Internet, a definite yes.

Television, a definite no. TV viewership keeps declining.

Good question.

YES! We are way to dependent upon both!

No, how you say that television and internet is the gods of the modern age. Yes, you can say that television and the internet are the god's gift for the modern age. Because these things are man made but that has been possible with the grace of the God for our better life.
But it will only be success when we will using them properly for our and the worlds goodness.
