Do my portraits have potential? Is it worth it to contine?!

Question: Please visit my website...(link below) Im still working on by the way.... I am a portrait artist (graphite pencil/ink/charcoal) and I am in the process of bringing my artwork to the public marketplace. Do you think I could get considerable buisness selling my portraits? (I have not set all final prices yet but they will range from about $70 -$350 depending on size ofcourse) I have did several dozen already and seem to get pretty good word of mouth advertising from just the very limited area I have been exposed to. Do you think I would see considerable response from potential 'clients' once I get my website 'out there'? I have seen several websites with other artist (some better, some worse) who have pretty high prices, so I imagine the market must be out there somewhere. Any suggestions, thoughts, thumbs up, thumbs down, green light or stop sign? Gracias

I can't comment on the website much.
I am not expert in that area. Other than that, I found some of the art hard to see. It looked a bit crowded horizontally.

The few pictures you showed, did not turn me on, but then art is in the eye of the beholder. Still, talent, some training, and hard work were visible!

Your best work, was your hands and the dog picture. It is very hard to draw your own hands, because, well, they move while you are drawing. THAT took talent. The dog was just cute.

I think some of your faces look a bit somber. I am not sure why, but only the little girl looked happy.

I think you have considerable potential. Keep your prices reasonable (not too expensive, but also NOT too cheap), and add a little color, and you will do fine.

You lose nothing by trying, and you could benefit not only yourself but the world.

You should put some "for instance" pricing on your site, and also info, like whether you sell it framed or not, or whether the work has something to preserve it done to it, or not.

Can you get some references? (Off past clients.) If so that will establish your credibility.

You might get some free PR by donating a work or 2 to a local charity. The work would be a personalized drawing of a person who has made a donation to the charity. A sort of raffle. You will draw someone for free, as part of your donation. Do not ignore the tax aspects. This is called a "donation or gift or goods or serives in kind", and is every bit as valuable as giving them money. So you do deserve a receipt for use as a tax deduction. Try get the receipt in such a form that you have 5 years to use the credit. You deserve it.

Also, make sure you get some good business cards, preferably with a thumbnail of something you drew, like one of your hand sketches. I can't decide whether I like the left hand one, or the "Escher-like" right hand one the most. You'll need to ask a number of people about that. Put a pro-forma of the cards up on Y|A and let us vote!

Can't think of anything else at the moment, so I really do hope this was useful.

Good Luck! Keep on drawing!
