How would i go about building a guitar from scratch?!

Question: What kind of wood would you reccomend for the body?
and what kind of tools would you reccomend for cutting out the body, and making indents for the pick ups and everything else?

There are guitar makers suppliers (the simplest route) that can supply plans and appropriate wood preplaned and cut to size, pickups etc.

You can manage with a few quality hand tools
engineers square
small adjustable mouth block plane
larger shooting plane
6 inch brushed steel rule, metre rule
junior hacksaw
an electric router is usefull for the pickup holes and the truss rod groove
drill
brass backed tenon saw
fine tooth japonese saw for the fret slots
oils stone
honing guide
assorted chisels
straight edge
...........for a start

It depends how much work you want to give yourself - you can buy the neck and body virtually readymade or make the whole thing from scratch

Here are the steps:

1) Buy a guitar from Guitar Center.
2) Break it apart to pieces.
3) Put it back together.
4) Do it as many times as you need if you need to keep yourself busy.

If you're building a solid body, the wood type
isn't critical. Just get something reasonably stable.
A router would be the power tool for the recesses,
though with a little skill, they can be done with a
good set of chisels.
The neck is critical. Laminated ash & maple maybe.
DO NOT try to build the fret-board yourself.
The fret locations are critical as are the bridge and
nut, (which you will have to DIY).
This is not a project for a first time woodworker.
Good luck, - you'll need it.
