Audio Engineers & Recording Artists: Do you think it is nec. for an audio engine!

Question: The guy I hired to record my cd acts so lukewarm about the project I am wondering why he even agreed to do the job. I am new to the recording business. He is also somewhat evasive. Everyone else involved in the project is rarin' to go. Do you think my expectations are off? Should I just let him do the job even though his attitude leaves something to be desired? If I keep him on the project how do I stop him from putting a damper on my own enthusiasm?

Change the guy. I am a Studio Session Guitarist and trust me, if the guy is half asleep or lacking in drive or spunk, change him.
I was recording in a montreal studio when John lennon wanted to use that same studio. He paid for the rental and came with his technician and himself only.
So yes, either you sit at the console and tell him what to do or use another guy or woman.
