Fonz, I read this last night; what a goof! I can't imagine how any repair would take and the thing still have the same tonal qualities. The cellulose fibers in the wood of any stringed instrument act as conductors for sound vibrations, as you probably know. Any type of adhesive would either stop those completely or dampen them to the point of being pointless in the first place. I thought it WAS kind of cool that this schmuck gets to play a Stradivarius as a result, though. The case for his violin must have been the same age as the instrument, huh? Just thought of a new title for the story: Why Concert Violinists Shouldn't Wear Clown Shoes

I read about that in the Telegraph a few days ago ~ I feel so sorry for him. For a violinist that must be truly heartbreaking.

Crazy...and I have a $20 acoustic guitar from a pawn shop...oh well...wood is wood.
Now - that a video could be lurking anywhere - I think that it's best to careful what you do in public.
