i believe there is a monthly charge. Check the 'small print'... according to their website "Yahoo! Music Unlimited: $83.88 per year, billed annually (that's just $6.99 per month); or $8.99 per month, billed monthly."
It is leagal but I think it's only free for a limited time then you have to pay

Launch is a system that will let you listen to streaming music. The free service gives you a certain amount of songs to listen to within a month (it's like 200 songs, or something). You can upgrade to their pay service, which will then give you unlimited streaming.
I am not aware that Launch will allow you to download songs at all, and if they did, I'm certain that they'd have to charge you for it - Yahoo is a law-obiding organization, and there are very few musicians who have authorized sharing their music for free.
Oh, hey, look, they do offer downloads! New info for me! They have a free introductory offer, but after the first two weeks, it's $6 a month. With their system, it appears that you don't pay by the song - you pay by the month, for unlimited downloads.
